Are all balls the same?

The short answer to the question above is NO!

 

To illustrate that we have done an accelerated durability test of two different cheap Chinese ceramic balls (both can be found in bicycle applications) and compared these with the CeramicSpeed balls.

 

The result speaks for itself. After only 10 hours both Chinese balls failed while the CeramicSpeed ball was still in perfect condition after 600 hours!

 

The Chinese balls are hard but brittle with a rough surface. They are harder than steel and in a bearing they would start grinding the steel races immediately. After few hours the races would be worn down and the bearing destroyed.
