Our UFO Ultra Endurance Wax is purposely developed to perform in challenging conditions and for extended durations. But depending on your preferred riding conditions, ride frequency and duration, we've compiled some general tips for how you take the best care of your chain while using this hot melt wax.
Dry Weather: Ride until the chain begins to make noise, then the chain should be cleaned and a new coating should be applied.
Rainy Weather: If used less than 100km and the chain still feels lubricated, it can be rinsed with clean water and dried with a cloth. Then apply two layers (two chain revolutions) of UFO Drip Wet Conditions on the chain to protect it from rust and ensure lubrication for the next ride.
If used more than 100km or if the chain feels dry after a ride, the chain should be cleaned, dried with a cloth, and re-treated either with Ultra Endurance Wax or two layers (two chain revolutions) of UFO Drip Wet Conditions to protect it from rust and ensure lubrication for the next ride.
Rainy Weather + Salt on the Roads: After any ride in salty and wet conditions, the chain should be cleaned and dried. All the salt must be completely washed off the chain. Then, the chain should either be re-treated with Ultra Endurance Wax or two layers of UFO Drip Wet Conditions should be applied to the chain to protect it from rust and ensure lubrication for the next ride.
Do's and Don'ts
In order to get the best performance out of our UFO Ultra Endurance Wax, there are some key things to keep an eye on. We've collected a couple of essential Do's and Don'ts that will help you get across the goal line safely.
DO's
- Be patient & let the wax heat evenly
- Always use a hot water bath when using the Wax Kit cylinder
- Store wax in a cool, dry place
- Start with a clean chain
DON’TS
- Apply direct flame to the wax
- Apply direct heat to the Wax Kit cylinder
- Heat the wax above 100*C
- Dilute or add water to the wax
- Place a greasy or visibly dirty chain into the wax
