OSPW X for SRAM Eagle Transmission FAQ
FAQ
Why is the lower pulley wheel 20t?
Each OSPW X system developed looks to maximize the pulley size within the size of the factory cage. With the OSPW X System for SRAM Eagle Transmission, we were able to optimize the placement of our 14-tooth/20-tooth Alpha disc pulley wheels and decrease friction loss due to chain articulation as much as possible.
Why does the system not come with coated bearings?
Through development lab testing, and long-term field use, we have determined that our new ADR technology protects the bearings so well, that we can use our core hand-built hybrid ceramic bearing, built with stainless steel races, all while being backed by a lifetime warranty.
What is ADR exactly?
Active Debris Remover is a patent pending dynamic dust and contaminant shield to thoroughly protect the bearings in all conditions. The first component to ADR is the serrated profile molded into the pulley wheel. This directional ‘bladed’ design pushes any contaminants out and away from the bearing when the pulley is in motion. The second component to ADR is the stainless-steel dust shield with a unique outer edge profile to complement the function of the rotating bladed profile.
Does ADR add any drag or friction to the pulleys?
No, the precision fitment and design of the ADR interface adds zero drag to the bearing or pulley wheel.
Are the composite teeth going to last as long as alloy teeth?
The unique, fiber reinforced composite material that we are introducing here, was selected through many lab and field tests, for exhibiting the longest durability compared to other composite and alloy pulley options.
Is the system more aero with the ALPHA Disc/solid disc?
Our development and focus for ALPHA Disc was specifically related to the functional attributes and protection afforded by the solid pulley disc. No claims or aero benefits are made at this time.
You claim the cage structure is more solid than previous, why?
Every new product development is an opportunity to improve upon the attributes of previous versions. The faceted design, paired with an updated thicker profile and a stronger material increases the overall strength of the cage compared to previous systems. Additionally, the triangular layout of the inner cage presents a much stronger design.
